gilligan's island
today was to be a gentle day of sailing. Capt. Len and handsome husband rigged the sails at the marina, while i sat like a lady of leisure - sort of, sitting next to the bait bin onshore, and popping pepcid in a pre-emptory strike.
soon under way...galley stocked, sails unfurled...
skies darkening...skies darkening?? Gilligan!
That 30% chance of rain - which means nothing around here - turned out to be more than accurate as sheets and torrents of rain blasted us. i was soaked to the bone. if you know anything about rigging sails, these sails were rigged for racing. which meant the bottom part of the sail wasn't attached to the boom, in effort to grab more wind. it also affords the rain some fun by collecting on that edge, snapping, and dumping itself in buckets down on a person (moi) sitting under or near it. but by then it really didn't matter. we headed back quickly, before lightning decided to bombard us, with all 90 pounds of Capt. Len shivering his timbers.
the ride home graced us with near zero visibility at times
a hot shower, some cuddly duds, a mug of Constant Comment, and a long nap on the couch was the cure. Now to work on my booth for an upcoming show...
(I don't recall where this image came from, but it's a Gypsy varda. not my design, but the booth will be similar)
PS: just finished reading Jenny Doh's book, "Art Saves," and I highly recommend it. very tasty! and a favorite friend is in there!
